How Many Drafts Will it Take Me?
Estimates range from 5-7 drafts for very high quality final copy. Before you start drafting, have your main message simplified into one sentence. For example, “This website copy should compel people to sign-up for a free consultation.” One of our former presidents of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “Plans are useless but planning is indispensable.” We believe the time you take to consider all of the following (before you start drafting) will greatly accelerate your ability to have a reliable workflow for generating final copy.
Define Objectives
Identify topic and purpose of the writing. Deterimine your target audience and desired action for the reader.
Gather Key Input Sources
Before your first draft, use our built-in ‘Source URLs’ engine. This will help inspire the initial collection of URL data sources found as relevant source material to your defined topic.
Pro Tip: Create First Draft using the Universal Outline Template
This will structure the content for easier editing early on in this process. Then complete basic edits to this outline (draft 1) adding and removing elements.
Pro Tip: Use our Style Guide Feature to match desired Tone and Style
Have examples ready to be able to provide in the AI Draft Engine Style Guide helping lock in a tone (e.g., formal, conversational, consultive, instructional, etc.).
